It has been a long few weeks.....

  .....and our remaining parent died recently. There were some fun times, a few really good whispered communications, but overall this parent had had enough and in the end gently then persistently declined sustenance. Their gp agreed, so medication ceased as well. Then the long sleep took over. At the end I was privileged to have a cuddly parent who wanted to snuggle in, not had That for a while! They felt safe though, safe and trusting of the carers around who treated this person like their own. Sad yes, for us. But not for them. Their life was lived well and that under unimaginable strains. The baton has been handed over now and the generations shift up a gear. The decision to plant lots of sunflowers was a good one. .  . . . . .
